Hardware support:

X Rebirth VR Edition purchased on Steam:

• Vive headset: supported

• Oculus Rift headset: supported

X Rebirth VR Edition purchased on the Oculus Store:

• Vive headset: not supported
• Vive controllers: not supported
• Oculus Rift headset: supported
• Oculus Touch controllers: supported

We do not officially support other VR headsets (e.g. OSVR) at this point, however the Steam version is using OpenVR and should be compatible with systems that support this as well. Any feedback is very welcome.

* With version 4.20 Hotfix 1 native Oculus Support was added to the Steam version now. Please note that this requires Windows 8 or higher.

General:

Make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date.

Make sure your controllers are turned on before starting the game, otherwise using them as input device will not work correctly.

A fatal error has occurred and X cannot recover:
vkEnumerateInstanceExtensionProperties(NULL,&count, NULL)Failed with err -3

This means that Vulkan cannot find your graphics card.
Check which Vulkan version your system is using:
Use Windows -> Run, type "vulkaninfo", hit enter.
If that does not work, information about the installed Vulkan Driver (generated via running vulkaninfo.exe, which is probably part of the VulkanRT folder located in the C:\Program Files\ directory (or on the drive you installed the Nvidia driver or the AMD driver, if you have an AMD card).
XRebirth VR requires 1.0.39 or higher.

Please check the "Apps & Features" and uninstall old vulkan drivers (everything below 1.0.39).
After that download the latest drivers from nvidia.com / amd.com and install them.
If that doesn't work, some people reported success by first using the "DDU"-tool to remove any (parts of) old drivers, see this forum-post for details: https://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=395699
