[MOD] Betty Plus

Betty tells when shields reach 75%, 50%, 25%.

I was in a dogfight recently enjoying great World War X and Explore and Salvage mods and got tired always looking at my shields and sometimes I forgot to boost them with T1 T2 T3 etc. Original Betty tells me that shields are critical when there are less than 20% of them left. I often so concentrated on killing so I forget to boost my shields and receive hull damage. Looking all the time at the shield bar is annoying so made this little mod.

Currently works on Skunk only. On capitals will do something similar with Capital Ship Bridge mod.

Save to remove, does not change anything.

First impressions are that this is a nice addition.

Just wondering though whether it might be desirable to forgo announcements when shields are repaired until they reach 100%. With damage and boosting, we can hear the announcement quite regularly and there other audio details competing for our concentration.

You can purchased "Shield Support Drones" from drone dealers that actively regenerate your shields even while taking damage.

Minimal announcements. No more interruptions when shields go up.

Thanks for taking my comment into consideration, Litauen. Is it enjoyable for you in this configuration?


(in case there was a misunderstanding, I wasn't asking for the "shields fully restored" audio to be removed but however you prefer is fine with me)

@Sparky Sparkycorp - yes, I like your suggestion. Less noise.

In first release I did because I could. But playing longer it is not necessary to know that my shields are restoring and restored. Because I initiate the restore procedure, so confirmation becomes annoying after longer play.

Hi Litauen,

Back using this fun mod after a spell in vanilla for bug-searching. Currently using Rebirth 3.50 beta 1. I noticed something while boosting (not tested in combat) but I don't know if it beta-related or just something I have not noticed previously.

If my shields drop to, for example, 50% and then recharge past 50% and then drop below 50% again, there is no new announcement until dropping below 25%. The same applies after 75% (no new announcement until 50%) and 25% (no new announcement before 0% shields).

Not exactly a critical issue but if it was possible, it would be handy if the missing announcements were available. Sorry for not knowing if beta or vanilla issue.

Hi,
a great mod, especially for beginning combateers like me.


This mod should be compatible with v.3.53 and the mod BettyAI 2015. I will check this out tonight and if yes, will make an answer post to the compatibility sticky.

Working great with v.3.53.


I should also add this works stellar with Betty 2015.
Although the voices are a tad different.
