[MOD][S] ButterRewards v2.3 (20 May 2014)

Hi there !

I suggest you to install the new Rebalance Mod form Egososft to add more fun and challenge to the game !

I've made ButterRewards to increase the interest of missions. At the moment, some missions like 'destroy caps' or escort missions need a lot of time to be completed and have a poor reward.
So I've modified and improved the calculation of those rewards to be more 'logical' and attractive, according to their difficulties.
For exemple easy missions will return only some tens of thousands, whereas hardest or more annoying ones can return 2 million of credits.

Like my other mods, I don't want the player feels like he's cheating, I want to balance rewards. That's why in the next step I'll try to examine each mission and give proper rewards for them.

Installation :
Just subscribe to the mod on Steam Workshop, that's all ;)

Changelog :
0.9 :
Initial Release
1.0 :
Release with each mission level reviewed + slight adjustment in missionlevel weight for reward calculation.
2.0beta :
Updated for patch 1.30 and Steam Workshop
Reward calculation adjusted
New : Reputation reward calculation modified :)
-> I don't have a lot of time to test if reputation rewards are really good (it should be, but i'm not 100% sure) So if you can give me some feedback, i'll fix this if needed :)
2.0beta2 :
Updated to support ButterMissions
2.0 :
No problem found on reputation side, switching to final version.
2.2 :
Fixed and enhanced reputation rewards
Now each mission has specific reward : i.e. now Escorts Missions gives 40% less Credits but 50 % more Reputation, on the contrary Assassinations missions gives 25% more credits but 50% less Reputation (as they are a bit "underground").
2.3 :
Updated for 2.0 !

Hey TheRealBix, thanks for addressing mission rewards.

As far as i understand, your reward is calculated for the use of your "Fight Reloaded" to make capital ships way harder to take down?

Could you release an "alternative" version if you still use the vanilla fight system? Like half or quarter for high rewards?

I use the vanilla version, and rewards are calculated relatively to the difficulty of the mission.
But in my opinion, fights are for the moment a bit easy (essentially dogfights) that's why I recommand other mods that modify fights.

(i'll edit the OP to make it clear that's just optional)

Ill put a comment here too in case you might be able to answer.

I activated this mod in steam workshop after having the combat re-balance beta mod that egosoft published and now both mods fail to work.

When i look at the extensions in game they both give the error:

"location already in use."

When i go look at the files in the extensions folder, both mods have catalog files named "ext_01.cat" and "ext_01.dat".

Are those catalog files named that way by steam or did you upload the mod with that catalog name?

I don't know which is the case so I also posted this question in technical support as well.

UPDATE:

I removed the butterrewards mod in game, restarted and while in game re-subscribed and then restarted again and this time it worked.

the first time i added the mod via just browsing in steam and not in game. this caused the mod to be saved as "ws_250945063" instead of naming the folder "butterrewards"

I'm sorry but I really don't know why it doesn't works..

I've never seen this error.

Yes names are given by Steam, in general ext_01 for every mod. I don't think that's the problem.

Do you have only those mods in your extensions folder ?

New 2.2 version !

-Fixed and enhanced reputation rewards
-Now each mission has specific reward : i.e. now Escorts Missions gives 40% less Credits but 50 % more Reputation, on the contrary Assassinations missions gives 25% more credits but 50% less Reputation (as they are a bit "underground").

So now non-combat missions aren't useless anymore, they're now more efficient to earn reputation regarding combat ones!

Hi Bix,

I note that you've said it's compatible with 2.0. Sorry for asking a potentially unessissary question but if it does, how does this interact with the ASS mission rewards?

Thanks,
Sparks

I think that those missions uses the same MD files as generic missions, so also the same file for rewards.

Actually I can't be certain, because I can't find Secret Services scripts for the moment.. If I find something interesting I'll report it :)

edit : In fact I've just found this crappy file (it was just under my eyes ^^'). So yes, missions are basically the same as generic ones, but with higher missionlevel (the value invisible to player) so the rewards are better.

In fact, thank you to have asked, because I'm now asking me of those secret missions aren't a bit overpaid now .. :?

I'll try to get some and update the mod if needed.
