[request] More accurate control of ship speed

I dont't know about anyone else but it drives me mad not being able to set my speed to match other ships etc as have only 5 speed settings. Any chance any of you fabulous people who are dedicating their free time to make this game all it could be could amend this either will a command such as match speed or greater increments of speed adjustment?
