http server?

Post by Narteck1 » Thu, 21. Nov 13, 01:27

I remember that in the DEV video on turrets that at the start they talked about the build they were using having an http server built in. Do any modders know if this is still in the release build? If so, could this be used to retrieve data from the game while running?

I think it would be an interesting MOD if someone were able to collect this information from the game every minute or so and display it into a web page so that you could monitor stuff like your ship/station statues and locations or the buy sell of your trade network. Would be great to display this on my second monitor, if this isn’t possible then thanks for reading.

All of that has to be enabled with special dev tools that are not available to modders.

This. I already have the frontend mostly done from an aborted web ui for x3tc. I did not know this bit of info though. Can we get confirmation? This would be so excellent, I could cry. I am thinking a nice mvvm js-driven frontend that can issue commands etc and give you a birds eye view of your empire and fleet. With the advent of webgl/three.js, We could even use the 3d models from the game in the ui.

I want to build this so much it hurts. Has anybody found references to this in the code? Knowing our luck, it is in the lua (t least thats how I would have implemented it).

I am off to run nmap.
