Can't remove MOD without breaking saves.

So I went to Pearly shore per quest and after talking to the lady in the jail for equipment upgrade, it said to go back to my ship.

I went back to my ship but the quest still said to go back to my ship.. So I thought maybe it had something to do with the animation being turned off so I removed the MOD that got rid of the boarding animation but now all my saves are screwed.

I'll put the MOD back in but the game keeps saying to return to ship..

Anyone know how to safely remove a MOD?

Also would like to find a solution for this. I tried enabling/disabling a mod just as a test, and realized that my saves couldn't be accessed without the mod. I'm wondering if this may require a hack of some sort to the save file?

I remember reading a post about just removing a couple things from an xml file.

I don't have any experience with the mission you are on, but in order to fix your savegame:

Found in 'My Documents/Egosoft/X Rebirth/someNumber/save/save_00x.xml'
Delete everything between <patches> and </patches> and save.
You don't talks about X:Rebirth...

do NOT do this, there is information the game needs inside that block (the version number of the savegame), simply remove the line the corresponds to your removed mod.

^ yes, after removing the mod from the extensions folder, edit the savegame and remove the line mentioning the mod you deleted. just the line. save will load afterwards.
