The game seem to be running fine globally, I'm on high settings with a gtx760 on ubuntu 14.04. I played a bit through the main campaign and noticed a few issues :
- when in stations, lighting seems to alternate between bright and dark depending on which direction I look at.
- subtitles do not display correctly, I only seem to get the first line on each dialogue, voice is fine however.
- when I got to twilight sentinel through the gate, everything got pink, it lasted until I got to the next sector (the navigation was quite hazardous without seeing any objects)

Hi,
I've got the same problem as xarses here, except that I'm using Intel HD Graphics with the i915 driver. OS is OpenSUSE 13.2.
Here's my steam log:
FWIW, output of lspci -k

Hi,
Started testing this a couple of hours ago, here's a list of all the issues I encountered so far.
1. During the opening cut scene the speech cuts out after the line about "prohibitive cost of components". After that there is no more speech until you get in to the game. Ambient sound still works.
2. The game frame rate is very variable. Sometimes it runs at 60+ FPS. Other times it will stutter and freeze for several seconds between frames. There doesn't seem to be anything different on screen when it does this.
3. When NPCs speak there is often a large delay between lines.
4. When NPCs speak the subtitles sometimes don't show, or only show some of the lines and not others.
5. After pressing the 'O' key to pull in cargo, the sound effect loops forever. Pressing it again starts another loop playing until eventually that is all you can hear. Docking, entering the menu etc does not stop the sound playing.

noticed issues that aren't on the known issues list:
- * Sound levels are completely off when using 5.1 sound. In stereo, the audio sounds (kinda) fine. It sounds as if the distances to the sound sources are at fault, the protagonist's voice is loud, others are quiet.
* Twilight sentinel is completely magenta
* Faces look horrible, lip-sync doesn't seem to work (Could be normal though, this is my first playthrough of X Rebirth)
* Conversations are extremely awkward: long pauses between sentences, subtitles that are cut off, but also extremely bad voice acting. I guess that last thing is something I'll have to live with anyway.
Played the campaign until going through the gate and after that the screen is pink. I have tried restarting and changing all of the graphics settings. Here is a screenshot

Was going to report the light and dark issue but seems to have been mentioned all ready.
Will add though that since that small patch I have to exit steam then start off the command line via
If I exit the game then try to re-run X Rebirth this is output to the console and fails to re-start
When started like said in the console I keep seeing this

I just wanted to report that it worked well for me. According to steam, I've played 13 hours over the weekend. I had no big graphical issues (some delays in text rendering). It did crash twice or so. Apart from that, it was smooth. I'm on Arch Linux (rolling release) Kernel 3.18, Nvidia GTX 460 with proprietary drivers 346.47. Didn't have to fix any further libraries (steam itself has some issues with arch due to steam providing old libraries), it just worked out of the box.
Ah, one annoying graphical thing: In station scanning mode, unscanned stuff was white. Since the menus (right side of cockpit) are transparent, that meant I could not read them over the white station schematics...
What I did have issues with however is the game itself... Dunno if I like it. Played the campaign, but the Rahanas did not really want to trade all that much. It worked for a bit, then it stopped (did not move). Not sure if it was because I bought some space fuel without the proper PMC licence and then tried to sell it. But after that, I dunno... Even with the licence it did not work. I could tell it to sell something, then it was stuck undocking. Can that be an issue with the linux Version? Mouse wheel sure would have been nice. The whole interface felt confusing. Scanning stations is a PITA. So is smalltalk, finding missions, navigating with the ingame maps. I really missed a zoom function (mousewheel?). I also really missed the ability to select a target from the local map so that I know which direction to fly to for scanning a station.
When using the autopilot the screen was shaking back and forth, so I stopped using it. No SETA is boring.
So all in all... mixed feelings. The gameplay experience was not what I hoped for, but I don't think it was because of the Linux version. So nice work with that I guess.

ArchLinux + radeonsi as well as with catalyst 14.12:
Playing for about 30-60 minutes results in great performance drop, graphical glitches and and the end leads to a crash. I assume there is a vram memory leak somewhere.
Auotpilot as well as fighting in DeVris near the sun makes everything lag like with bad internet connection... Its hard to hit target since their movement isnt smooth anymore. It does not feel like bad performace.
Smoke clouds have a really, really severe performance impact.
Undertitles are completely out of sync/not visible. Where is the sound option where i can select stereo/surround?? With 5.1 system i hear only otanis voice.

"Show me your wAAAAAres, plEEEAAAse!"
And a good thing there's that please at the end, or I might think someone is going to be killed in the next 5 seconds... Anyway.
I had that laggy performance too twice, but after hours, not 30-60 minutes. It did "feel" like out of memory / swapping, yes. It was instant. Not sure if it was getting better one time.

Out of memory is definitely possible (can you check what the sys-mem usage is next time? and gpu-ram if there's a way).
Though there's a lot of other stuff that could go wrong.
It's also likely to be related to alt-tab so try to note if it's correlated to that.
How quickly does the bad-perf -> glitches -> crash take (e.g. instant, seconds, minutes)?

I can observe about 1gig ram usage directly after loading.
Flying around via highways causes vram usage go up to 100% (2gig) after about 15 minutes. Staying in one zone doesn't issue the lag that fast (did not wait that long).
In between i see smaller lags caused by loading new objects i think (especially station loading seems to take long), i did not experice at free weekend. At free weekend i exclusevly was at omycron lyrae, pink smoke prevented me from visiting Albion.
(Pink smoke after you pass the gate in the story plot by the way and very bad performance in the cloud/diashow like).
Now i am at the exploeded (moon?) at watergate/cupsid prime... i regurarly experience longer lags when i pass the ice meteroids at the highways. the map causes longer lags as soon as you display the zone (where station models have to be loaded).
I hope i could help a bit.
I never alt+tabbed cuz i saw the isseue at page 1.
Looking forward to enjoy X:R more
//Edit: Didn't check sysram. Since i have 16gigs and vram is full ... ill check tomorrow. How can i remove a plotted course btw?
Some more info:
I start believing something is wrong with your particle system/dust clouds.
Each time i pass asteroid belts in DeVris where belts a free from dust ... well its smooth. But i.e. blabla-corona near the sun lags. In DeVris there is another asteroid belt somwhere with much dust: huge lag. Sometimes it lags during fights with smaller fighters. Hit -> particle sytem involved?
Each time around 100mb vram is being allocated and never freed again.
Perhaps this is important. I started the teladi outpost game where you get the 3 small freighters. Passing the jumgate takes ages. ... omycron lyrae/devris (outside the pink nebula) doesnt make much problems, memory loss is MUCH smaller and jumps are wonderful smooth and instantaneous.
In Omycron Lyrae/Maelstrom: i reach 2gb but performance is good and no crash... i don't know. Albion/Teladi is almost unplayable...
Sysram stays around 3-3.5 gb.
P.S: The combat cockpit is really really beautiful. Nice job.
