unofficial changelog

Hi,

I know self-advertisement is no good way to do, but I guess it might be of interest to one or the other that I just started collecting some changelog data for X Rebirth. The main focus for the log lies on the UI part of things. Even though it will also include all the changes in the official changelog (once one will be released), it gets a bit more into depth with UI-related changes than the official changelog ever could.

Thanks. This interests me.

I notice that the ui has gotten significantly faster since I first played.
Now if only it was working as fast as I can hit keys. 8)

Awesome, thanks a lot, there is never too much information.

Thanks Luke. I wonder if it'd be possible to attach this to actual release notes as an "advanced" link, down at the bottom of the changes that were written for public consumption?

It'd be nice to have more information about the "we improved trade ships in 1.13" note in the latest patch, for example. Generally speaking though boiling down a number of changes into "they work better" has to be done - I agree (SW Dev myself).

Given the likely interest in this, I'm gonna sticky it for a bit :)

Thank you for keeping up communication with the community. I am very unhappy with the X Rebirth reviews atm, and greatly fear this is a game I will never attempt to purchase.

Please make things right.

Thank you for trying to keep us updated and the constant roll out of patches. It's a lot of work, and I hope everyone at least appreciates the effort!

Awesome, thanks for keeping us in the know, I appreciate it. Especially exciting to see the details of how the UI will be changing. :D

This is probably a crazy question, but for the sake of modding, how would you feel about releasing the Lua code for the UI? Someone looking to pirate, or whatever, would find it quite useless on its own, but in the hands of modders it could easily spark a wave of UI mods. I see the code right now is in compiled LuaJIT form which looks to be extremely hard to decode or modify.

I'm quite sure that in some way or the other more information on how to mod the game will be revealed by Egosoft at some time. ;)

Hm.. thanks for this, but I have to wonder why this only covers changed up to the release, while on Steam there's already descriptions of two further patches which's content isn't listed in your list at all ?

I've also noticed a significant increase in reponsiveness from ui after last update

OMG,
what you show there in this inofficial patchlog is just the more shame to Egosoft, implementing new features 2 days in front of a release.

are you serious???

look at the patch notes for previous x games, they implemented features years after the initial release they REALLY should be ashamed especially since theyre doing it for free i mean they should just not do aynthing anymore right? /sarcasm

The game was clearly running late, this is trying to give us some transparency on what happened / is happening. This shows that they care about their game and they were working right up until the last second to fix as much as they could.

well thats the spirit

anyone who did not expect a bugfest on release never played any of the previous games, and to be honest i understand why that is the case.

its expensive to hire testers so they are just using devnet fr that so they save alot of money that can go into features.
fixing bugs after release with 1000s of testers if far cheaper that hiring someone to do it who wont even find all of them

given that they fixed all the bugs i encountered in a day3 patch i m confident that this game will get into a good state pretty soon

The Egosoft logo under a forum name means that person works for Egosoft. A moderator tag just means someone who helps maintain order in the forums, usually volunteering their time.

In this case, we are given a rare glimpse into the very -very- busy workload of a developer right up until release. Daily builds are a sign of a hard working development team that are -trying- to deliver their very best. Very few game companies are willing to do this, then again, Egosoft is not like most game companies.

He lives in Wurselen, close to HQ :)

Keep up the good work! Don't feel too bad about all the negativity, it will pass over. As another software designer I feel bad for you for dealing with consumers instead of businesses with big service departments :D

You made a mistake, it should say "Beta" in front of 1.11 instead of just "Version" ;)

It's a massive shame this was pushed out the door early, and clearly without anywhere near enough QA done on it (and I guess zero regression on the release version either).

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how this game will turn out in a few months' time but sadly I can see the damage has already been done. I feel a bit gutted for Egosoft, because they deserve better than a ton of flaming on their forum and bad reviews coming out all over the place.

But on a positive note, much love to you all for bringing us this fantastic series. I'm sure you will give it all the attention it needs :)
